This body of work, conceived in the fall of 2015, is the fetus which eventually evolved into the identity of Jazzmint. The two projects featured are the first explorations of gender and sexual expression which lead me to become interested in drag and performance.
ExoSkeleton: Superstition
In this performance I was thinking about the absurdity of gender bound objects, and their roles in our performance of gender.
I made a large functioning ceramic urinal, and a clear, pink, vinyl handbag to accompany the performance.

Social Prosthetic: The AntiShield
This garment was constructed as a tool to promote personal safety as a gay man in potentially dangerous social situations. The intention is that the wearer becomes so visually offensive that they can effectively neutralize potential social threats from the larger heterosexual majority.
